In light of the upcoming reinstated Persian rug embargo (Aug. 5, 2018) I have been acquiring a number of newly woven Persian rugs for my gallery. Yesterday, I put together a 5-minute video featuring a number of the pieces I thought were noteworthy. This video features a few gorgeous Persian Bijars and a couple smaller dazzling tribal rugs in the Tree of Life design. 

As of today, all of these pieces are available.

Are We Headed for Another Persian Rug Embargo?

The last Persian rug embargo began in 2010 and was lifted in early 2016.

According to the below article, these sanctions will be reinstated on August 6, 2018.

Here is the article from the Department of the Treasury detailing the specifics. We are currently in a "wind-down" period. which, as mentioned above will terminate on August 6, 2018.

1. GENERAL QUESTIONS 1.1. Effective May 8, 2018, what sanctions snap back into place? 

Here is the relevant passage: 

i. The importation into the United States of Iranian-origin carpets and foodstuffs and certain related financial transactions pursuant to general licenses under the Iranian Transactions and Sanctions Regulations, 31 C.F.R. part 560 (ITSR);

So, the answer is yes, we do have a new Persian rug embargo specifically commencing on August 6, 2018.  Luckily, I currently have a wonderful selection of Persian rugs, available at my gallery with a number of choice pieces arriving within the next few days.

Here are a few of my unique and beautiful Persian rugs with many more on my website. Today is June 10, 2018. My new pieces (tribal rugs from Iran) will be arriving on the 12th. If you are reading this after that date my new rugs will have arrived!
